Our Commitment to Sustainable Packaging

At PACKQUEEN, we understand that sustainability is more than just important, it’s something that every business must now prioritise.

From the beginning of our operations, we always use sustainable materials to produce our packaging – and we will always do so. As a collective population, we must continue to transition toward sustainability and educate our customers about what they can do to make a meaningful difference to the environment.

All our cardboard postage boxes are made from 80% recycled material. We source our cardboard from local Australian manufacturers supporting the Australian economy. Most of our products are paper or cardboard and therefore these are all recyclable which is great for our customers (products with matt or gloss lamination would be recyclable with general waste, but it has a laminated coating so it's not biodegradable). In addition, any scraps or wastes that have occurred as a result of the manufacturing process are recycled. Therefore, reducing our overall waste within our manufacturing plant. It is important to PACKQUEEN that any of our off-cuts are recycled and this is then in turn sent back to recycling plants who make more cardboard.

Our purpose is to create positive change and progress for the environment through manufacturing sustainable packaging. We are driven by a strong motivation to minimize our ecological footprint and contribute to a greener future for businesses in Australia.

Our commitment to environmental sustainability stems from a deep understanding of the pressing issues facing our planet. We recognize the urgent need to address climate change, reduce waste, and to preserve and protect our natural resources. By manufacturing sustainable packaging, we believe we can make a tangible difference and play our part in creating a more sustainable world.

One of our primary motivations is to reduce the environmental impact of packaging materials. Traditional packaging often generates excessive waste that ends up in landfills or contributes to pollution. Plastic packaging can take years to break down, and if not disposed of correctly, even “eco-friendly” plastics can still cause harm to wildlife if ingested. We aim to change this narrative by manufacturing packaging that is eco-friendly and recyclable. By using sustainable materials, such as recycled paper or biodegradable alternatives, we ensure that our packaging has a minimal impact on the environment throughout its lifecycle.

Furthermore, we are motivated to raise awareness and educate our customers about sustainable packaging choices. We believe that informed consumers can make conscious decisions that support environmental sustainability. By providing transparent information about our sustainable packaging options and their benefits, we empower our customers to choose packaging solutions that align with their values and contribute to positive change.

Moreover, we deeply value our relationship with our customers and understand that their commitment to sustainability is also a key driver for change. By manufacturing sustainable packaging, we support our customers' own sustainability goals and help them align their branding and products with eco-conscious values. This collaboration allows us to collectively drive positive change and create a ripple effect in the larger business community that will also trickle down to the end consumer.

The PACKQUEEN impact & success

PACKQUEEN drives the change for sustainable packaging through several key initiatives and measures the impact of these efforts. Here are some ways PACKQUEEN is making a difference and evaluating its progress:

  1. Sustainable Packaging Offering: We actively develop and promote sustainable packaging options to our customers. By offering eco-friendly materials like recycled paper and biodegradable alternatives, we help customers make environmentally conscious choices in their packaging solutions.

  2. Lifecycle Analysis: We conduct thorough lifecycle analyses of our packaging products. This process involves evaluating the environmental impact of packaging materials from their extraction or production stage to disposal or recycling. By understanding the full impact of our products, we can identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions to drive sustainability.

  3. Material Sourcing: We prioritise sustainably sourced materials for its packaging production. This includes using materials that are recycled, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, or from certified sustainable sources. By selecting materials responsibly, we ensure that our packaging has a reduced impact on deforestation and promotes sustainable practices in the industry.

  4. Waste Reduction: We focus on waste reduction throughout our manufacturing processes. By optimizing material usage, implementing recycling programs, and minimizing packaging waste, PACKQUEEN strives to minimize its environmental footprint. We currently recycle 100% of our off-cuts which saves a massive 240 tonnes of waste going into landfills each year.
