How does PACKQUEEN calculate my transport cost and what is Cubed Weight?
Your transport cost is based on your location and the weight of the products you order. When you add products into your shopping cart and enter your postcode, our website will automatically calculate your freight/delivery charge. It is important to understand that our couriers charge based on either the deadweight or cubed weight of your products (whichever is greater).
For example, 100 x 4 Chocolate Boxes, might only weigh 1.8kgs, however, due to the clear lids already being assembled the carton that these are sent in is quite large. The couriers will take the dimensions of the box that we are sending your order in and calculate the cubed weight as well. In this situation, the cubed weight is 11.4kgs. Therefore, you would be charged postage on 11.4kgs instead of 1.2kgs.
Cubed weight is calculated by measuring the Length x Width x Height (in metres) multiplied by 250.
Step 1 - Convert the length x width x height into metres (For example 30cm = 0.3m)
Step 2 - Multiply your length x width x height x 250 to get your cubic weight
Step 3 - Compare your cubic weight of your carton to the actual (dead) weight. Whichever is the greated is what our couriers will use
We have a parcel that is 60cm x 30cm x 20cm and has a dead weight of 5kg. We calculate the cubic weight as follows:
In the above example, our courier would charge you 7.5kgs as it is higher than the deadweight of 5kgs.
