The short answer
A magnetic closure box is a rigid box with a lid hinged to the base and a hidden magnet in the front flap, so it closes neatly and stays shut without ribbon or tape. It's one of the most popular premium styles for corporate gifts, hampers, cosmetics sets and launch packs. We stock collapsible magnetic gift boxes that ship flat, and make custom printed magnetic boxes from 250 units, in black or white with a one colour print, or with full coverage print, finished in gloss or matt lamination. Custom magnetic boxes take 4–6 weeks from artwork approval. They're a separate product from our custom printed rigid boxes, which have their own timing.
How a magnetic box works
A magnetic box is built like a rigid box: thick board wrapped in paper. The lid is attached to the base along the back edge, so it opens like a book. The magnet is a presentation closure that keeps the lid shut neatly, not a seal for posting. Thin magnets are hidden under the wrapping paper in the front flap of the lid and in the matching spot on the base. When you close the lid, the magnets pull it shut.
Because the lid is attached and the closure is hidden, the box looks clean from every side and can be opened and closed again and again. People often keep magnetic boxes long after the gift is gone, which keeps your brand in front of them.

Traditional magnetic boxes arrive already formed, which takes up a lot of storage and freight space. Collapsible magnetic boxes solve that: they ship flat and fold into a rigid box in a few seconds. Common mistakes
- 1Choosing a size without the insert. Allow room for tissue, shredded paper or a foam insert as well as the product.
- 2Leaving the order too late. Custom magnetic boxes take 4–6 weeks from artwork approval. Order well before you need them.
- 3Posting them without an outer carton. The wrapped surface can scuff in transit. Ship magnetic boxes in a carton.
- 4Overloading the lid. Heavy items can strain the hinge if the box is carried by the lid. Support the base.
