I have fond memories of my grandparents, who ran a small antique shop filled with treasures from all over the world. It wasn’t just a store—it was an experience. They spent hours with each customer, sharing stories behind each piece and helping people find something truly special. I can still picture my grandma carefully wrapping purchases in beautiful paper, using an old cash register that seemed as full of character as the shop itself. My grandpa, on the other hand, worked tirelessly behind the scenes, restoring old items and bringing them back to life.
Watching them showed me what it meant to build something meaningful. It wasn’t just about selling products—it was about craftsmanship, care, and creating memorable experiences. Without realizing it at the time, those early moments planted the seed for my own entrepreneurial journey.
For years, I was committed to my full-time job and worked hard to build my career. But deep down, I always felt there was something more I wanted to do—something of my own. Eventually, that feeling became too strong to ignore. Taking a leap of faith, I decided to start a small side business creating invitations and handmade gift boxes. It was something I genuinely loved—combining creativity with the satisfaction of building something tangible.
As I began connecting with customers, I started noticing a common challenge. So many businesses—especially small and growing ones—were struggling to find packaging that was both high-quality and accessible. Packaging wasn’t just a finishing touch; it was a crucial part of their brand and customer experience. That realization was a turning point. I saw an opportunity to create something that could genuinely help businesses stand out and grow.
That’s how PackQueen was born.
From the very beginning, I was determined to do things differently. I wanted to create high-quality packaging right here in Australia, while also being transparent and fair with pricing. At the time, pricing in the packaging industry was often unclear or difficult to access, which made it hard for businesses to plan and scale. We made the decision to put our pricing online—openly and honestly—which was a first in our space. It was a simple idea, but one that reflected our commitment to supporting our customers.
As PackQueen grew, so did our vision. What started with a small range expanded into a broader offering, including custom printing and tailored packaging solutions. We continued to listen to our customers, evolve our products, and find new ways to support businesses at every stage of their journey.
Looking back since starting PackQueen in 2017, I feel incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. The journey hasn’t always been easy—like any business, there have been challenges, risks, and moments of uncertainty. But the core mission has never changed: to make quality packaging accessible to businesses of all sizes and to help them create memorable brand experiences.
This blog is a natural extension of that mission.
I created it as a space to share what I’ve learned along the way—the wins, the challenges, and the lessons that don’t always get talked about. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to grow, my goal is to provide practical insights, inspiration, and honest advice that can help you move forward with confidence.
In the posts to come, I’ll be sharing customer stories, packaging tips, and behind-the-scenes insights from building PackQueen. More importantly, I hope this becomes a place where founders and business owners feel supported and understood.
Because building a business can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone.
Together, we can celebrate the wins, navigate the tough moments, and continue learning from one another as we grow.
